Equipment compatability

Any of you know if Hornady and RCBS shell holders are interchangeable?

Yeah. I think I have accumulated every brand known to mankind, and everything that is a standardized product fits my RCBS presses. We're lucky that most manufacturers went to standardization, decades ago--but it helped sales.

FWIW, I have an ancient C&H press for which the shell-holders are screw-in. The only shell-holder that I have for it fits the .308 family. Strange proprietary animal.

thanks!

My cousin gave me a red press with three rams two are caliber specific the other accepts shell holders. I don't know what type of press it is. It has CH cast in the side of it. The primer seater is rusted stiff.

I was also given a RCBS press it looks like a rock chucker but it isn't marked the same as the new ones. The primer seater is missing.

I bought a Hornady AP, and lots of other items to start reloading, a year later I was given the two presses, powder measure (OLD) and a balance beam scale, Ideal casting pot (no wiring, I soldered two empty 22mag cases to a short length of romex and plugged it in it heated up good but no temp control), 45-70 single bullet mold and handles, ingot mold and some dies, most of which are rusted pretty bad, and a couple of shell holders.

I was thinking of buying a hand help primer gun, probably a Hornady.

Awbrock,

The standard shell holders all fit, but the numbering systems for which one goes with which case are different. For a conversion table, look here.

Hey awbrock, you can get the primer seater arm assembly kit for rockchuckers from midwayusa.
