Remington 541 s question

Did the remington 541 s custom sporter come pre drilled and tapped for a scope ?
I have one and a standard 22 scope can be mounted in the groves along the receiver and it is also drill and tapped on top of the receiver.
Are all rifles that are drilled and tapped done to a standard such as the spacing between the holes ?

The Remington 541-S (and 541-T) was drilled and taped for a scope at the factory.

The hole spacing is relatively standard, but there can be some variation. There are two groove widths that you will run into as well.

Check the Weaver Scope Base Chart or check Brownell's website.

was the 541s custom sporter made in Remington's custom shop ? I mean it is hand checkered and the receiver is engraved, it is a beautiful rifle. But it won't chamber CCI stingers since the case is a little longer than other 22 lr's

The Remington 541-S was a regular production rifle unlike the current 547 which is made in the custom shop.
