U.N. and our gun rights

Just wondering how much stock people are putting in this news about the U.N. treaty and gun ownership in the U.S. being affected by it. I did read that 58 Senators were prepared to veto the treaty and not ratify it. Of concern is that fact that there are 100 senators and I would have hoped there would have been a resounding number like 80 that would veto it. That means that 42 members of the Senate would go along, that is quite unsettling to say the least.

Watching this with much concern. We have got to turn this country around...starting first in November!

Luckily there needs to be 2/3 vote to let the treaty go through I believe so that 58 is more than enough to deny it. Either way though, the fact that this is even a issue is disturbing.

Once you get rid of one amendment it will be much easier to rid of the rest.

To top it all off...

they put a madman in charge of the whole deal. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the President of Iran, you are kidding me right? Guess the other choice would have been Chavez of Venezuela. And I get the distinct feeling all indications are that our administration is a willing and compliant party in this whole scheme of things.

Insert <remove tin foil hat mode> here:

Guys:

Anyone thinking that this is *really* going to be an issue for gun owners in the USA is as crazy as the Chairman of the Treaty Comittee.

Does anyone *seriously* think this has anything to do with any sort of reality?

To Willie

I noticed that you are a proud NRA member. At first blush I would say no way, however you might want to make note of this. Are you aware of the fact that the NRA is concerned enough over this issue that Wayne LaPierre, Exec VP of the NRA, is scheduled to present testimony at the U.N. concerning this. That tells me this cannot be dismissed lightly. I wish it were a nightmare that I could simply wake up from and it would go away. Again I repeat 58 Senators, that is shameful.

Come on.

We just closed a UN Treaty thread YESTERDAY. It's 4 threads below this one. Do we not even glance around to see if a topic has been covered?

This one has been... 57 million times.
