Guess what I found in the mail this morning.

You can't so I'll tell you. A freaking Burris 536 optic and Fastfire III along with a 10rd mag to zero them! Thanks to whoever sent them. Really looking forward to shooting with em.

I only just got them mounted but already I'm liking this optic combination. Super solid construction. The fastfire is tiny and mounts easily on top of the main optic rail. Both of them have sharp reticles.

The fastfire came with a plastic thingy that appears intended to protect the lens. But I can't get the thing on. I don't wanna force it but I would like to be able to protect it when not in use.

Will do, though I'll likely spend my whole first range session zeroing. The manual for the 536 isn't clear but (for anyone else buying one) you take off the nubs atop the screws on the top and side.

I'm an idiot. The lens protector thing goes on perfectly fine. I was trying to push it on backwards.

Andy - are you saying you're getting it for free so the wife isn't angry when you get a new toy and she doesn't get new shoes or a purse too?
