Scope Problem

I have an old Bushnell 2.5 to 8 power that the power adjusting ring will not move. I's stuck on 2.5. Is there anything I can do to loosen it up?
Thanks
StanH

Place it in a warm spot for a day or two, then try to move it.

On older scopes, whatever lube is used on the nut, will dry and set. Warming it up will or should loosen it. Warm but not hot and once it moves, it should be okay ...

Yah the lube resembles roofing tar, don't know what it is but it seal the tube yet allowing the ring to move.

Not sure what they used way back then but the new stuff appears to be pure silicone that has the property of sealing and yet, provide lubrication. It's really strange stuff, again somwhat like choke tube antisiez. ...

pop it in the microwave for 15secs.. seriously, heating with a hair dryer is what I'd try.
