Really? You didn't use the search function for this one? I think there has been more written on reloading the 308 than any other cartridge in recent memory.

All powders work, and you'll find accuracy loads with H4895, IMR4895, Varget, Reloader15, IMR4064, TAC, Win748, etc. I'm tempted to try some of the 2000-MR I am using in 223 since it meters so well.

My accuracy load with 168 HPBTs is 41.5gr of IMR 4064, Winchester Brass, CCI BR-2 Primers. It isn't the fastest of the bunch but it shoots tight and brass life is good in bolt action rifles.

When it comes to military rifles in 30-06 or 308 I’m lazy. I have never worked up loads other than 4895. It meters well and fills the case and gives reliable results. I have 4, 8 LB containers that haven’t been opened yet and by the end of this year half will be gone.
Some good information of powders from the Hodgdon site.

IMR 8208 XBR

It's a rework of military powder and is well suited for consistency in any condition.

I run Varget under 175 SMKs in my Savage .308. Amazingly accurate...

42.2 g Varget w/168g SMK's worked up in an R25 seems to be pretty accurate.

43.2 g Varget w/168g SMK's was almost as good.

YMMV
