I searched for a week for the "right" grips and I finally found these!

Hogue rubber wrap-arounds are a confidence builder beyond any other grip I have put on my 1911s.

Absolute non-slip.

And I think they look "neanderthally-handsome" (LOL) coupled with stainless.

most simple solution: Pearce finger groove inserts

Now to shoot them and see how they work.

I don't have a 1911 (yet). But I have a Sig P238 that I bought with wrap around grips on it. I didn't care for them due to my short stubby fingers. I also don't care for the looks of the wrap arounds. To each their own right...

Yep, it's all about "shootability" to me.

If wrapping them in racer tape works best, I'll wrap'em.

I tried a set of wrap arounds, but went back to steel backed rubber panels, with a thumb cutout for better reach to the mag release.
The wrap arounds prevented getting a high hold and were just too big, front to back.
They also got in the way of getting a stuck mag out of the gun.
But whatever works.
