SKB 605-Trap price check and warranty?
There is a gentleman at our trap club who offered to sell me this shotgun for $700. It shoots great for me and I'm seriously considering buying it. However, there are none in the shops for me to gauge the going price on these shotguns.
I don't know it's age, but the metal is about 98%, the wood has a few small nicks and is probably close to 94%. The gold plated trigger has had most of the gold rubbed off it, but the rest of the metal shows almost no wear! I'm really bugged by the flaws in the wood finish, as I prefer 100% guns, but I shoot so well with it, that I may overlook the nicks and scratches. Do you think $700 is the "going rate" for a shotgun such as this? What is SKB like to deal with if it ever needs repairs? Any other insights into this gun would be appreciated as well! |

I can't comment directly on the 605, but I have a pair of 600s that I purchased in Germany when I was stationed there. I paid over $600 for one of mine fifteen years ago, so that looks like a great price.
No service reports as nothing has broken. SKB produces the Weatherby shotguns, so parts shouldn't be an issue. Does the 605 have choke tubes? Mine does.. Giz

Thanks for the feedback, Gizmo99. It does have choke tubes, a full and a modified. I'm sure I'll end up buying the gun when I see him next weekend. I'm so impressed with the way this gun feels and shoots.
If it were a pistol, it would have the smooth action of a Beretta and the precise fit of a P7M8. Last edited by IMtheNRA; May 25, 2002 at 04:12 PM. |

i looked around on gunsamerica and didn't see any for sale but i did notice that almost all the O/U SKB were over 700 wheather new or used......i had a couple of 500's and a 200E over the years and never had to deal with Warranties because nothing went wrong........another issue is the cost of any other trap O/U--they are all way over 700 so my advise is if you can break targets with it then buy it.......Dick
