Which short stock - Hogue or Chaote?
12" L.O.P. Hogue OverMolded Shotgun Stock Kit w/forend for Rem. 870
Or the Chaote YBA (youth, body armor)? Thanks. I am 5 feet 7 (on a good day) and wear a 32 in sleeve give or take. |

Just put a Hogue 12" LOP on my 870. I'm a happy camper. 5'6". 32/33 sleeve. It's short, but I'm not bumping my nose.

Houge
I think the overmoulding on Houge stocks make them the hands down choice for synthetic aftermarket gear. Just my two cents.

I found the short stocks don't bump your nose, as I was afraid they would. After lot's of rounds they DO bruise your occipital(sp?) arch of your cheek where you would normally 'spotweld'. At 5'7" the Houge 12" would be perfect. I am 5'11" and almost 13" is right for me. The Houge soft rubber 'overmoulding' is only in the grip , where it should be. I have a 12" Houge on my tactical 870, and like it very much. The ergonomics are better than the Speedfeed or Choate 13" , which I also have.I wish Houge made a stock in 13". The Sppedfeed solid conventional in 13" is real good also. Chaote stocks are quality products, the plastic is a little hard an soapy though.

Hogue is a very good choice. Mine is standard length and the quality is excellent. I've got two Express models with evil black stocks, one factory and one Hogue. No comparison. Hogue is super groovy.
Mike PS. I still like wood better!

I have the Hogue comp stock on the wifes 870. It is very nice. I also have Hogue grips, and a stock on one of my 10/22's and like them all. I don't think you will lose with the Hogue.
