Cleaning rod extensions?

I have a Hoppes cleaning kit I bought for my 1911. I've just acquired a new rifle and was wondering if I needed to buy a whole additional kit for this .308 Savage 10FCP, or if all I need is some rod extensions and the appropriate bore accessories? That would be nice...and it seems logical.

So...do I need a whole 'nuther kit to clean this rifle?

Cheers...

I prefer to use one piece cleaning rods of the correct length as they are stiffer and flex/rub less against the bore. A cleaning rod, brass brush, slotted tip, and patches would suffice. You probably already have bore cleaner and oil. My preferences for these are Shooters Choice Bore Cleaner and FP-10 or Weapon Shield oil.

Sadly, a jointed cleaning rod can act as a broaching tool inside the bore. Definitely not recommended.

A $25 cleaning rod does not seem to be an excessive investment for a quality bolt gun such as your Savage.

Regards,

Walt

Go with a Tipton cleaning rod such as ( http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct...tNumber=550094 ). You won't be sorry

Thanks gents! I will check out those products. I was thinking there might be an issue using a sectional rod. I don't mind the expense, just didn't want to do it unless it was necessary. Gotta have SOME money for ammo.
