Eating broccoli gets rid of "the Wiggles"

AR15... what else. So The SIG I just bought and love to bits has a tension plunger in the lower receiver shelf and helps get rid of the rattle but not all wiggle. So check this out... I looked up to see what folks were doing to help—those that were interested—and I tried a few things. I got a small rubber cork from Ace Hardware and cut about .25 of an inch of the thin end. I drilled a hole through the middle with my Dremel and slipped this over the plunger in the lower. It worked beautifully except for some remaining side-to-side at the pivot pin. I then tried the "O" ring fix and this worked but I didn't feel it was robust enough. So I took one of those rubber bands they sell broccoli with and snipped a piece of it just big enough to fit down between the front hinge and the outside/forward wall of mag well... leaving just enough to protrude into the receiver as it shuts. Not too much lest it will get in the way of the feed ramps. It works beautifully, and combinde with the rear tensioning there is absolutely no play between the upper and lower. The rubber band in the photo was a yellow one but it's fairly inconspicuous if that matters.

I know lots of folk don't care, but I just wanted to share this fix.

Pretty cool! I currently use the Accuwedge. I will try your method...maybe it'll work better?

Not sure it will be "better" as the other methods work too... But it definitely fits better on mine, and I think might last longer than an o-ring being severely pinched. That fat rubber band combined with the rear tension device makes it feel like a custom fit.

My Mega GTR 3H is rock solid with no play in any direction, even with the tension screw all the way out

But still a cool idea in a pinch for cheap OP

So I kept my accuwedge in, and put a small section of a broccoli rubber band in place. I cut it very small so it doesn't protrude at all...good thing because it's pink.

The little bit of wiggle that was there is entirely gone. Thanks for the tip!

Good thing that I eat a lot of broccoli

Cool... just make sure it doesn't protrude too far into the mag well or it might get in the way of the feed ramps. In my mag well you can barely see the end of the rubber band.

The other thing it does with my smaller stainless steel Bushmaster 5 round mag is stop it rattling in the well.

When you say you can barely see it in your magwell, how many mm's showing are we talking?

About 2mm... if you push it up it doesn't reach the ramps. If you have some snap caps just make sure it cycles... but then it's easy to pull it out a bit.

Worked like a charm. I cut the rubber band strip to approximately 15mm, and exactly 2-3mm is sitting clear of the feed ramp

Layers of black electrical tape also work well, and don't fall out when you open the receiver.
