Glock 23 or 17?
I really been wanting to get a Glock 23, because I have the 27,26 and 19 but I talked to someone who is LEO and he said they issue 40's but he prefers his 17 9mm because faster follow up shots. So it made me think I should not get a 23 and buy a 17 because I am itching for another Glock. I am going to the gun range next week to text again my 26/27 follow up shots.
What to do? |

Others will probaby chime in
Get the 23 and a LWD conversion barrel to shoot 9 mm. Best of both worlds.

17
Get the original! You've got to have a 17 if you're collecting Glocks. It's a great platform for maximizing capacity, barrel length and reliability.

Id say go with the 17, hard to beat the original. I have a 17, 26, and 20 but the 17 is by far my favorite.

I think your LEO friend is right. But why buy the G17 when you already have a G19. Too close in comparison although the 19 is a cc gun. Why not buy a G34? That's a good choice.

I prefer shooting my G17 over my G22 but I can't find 9mm anywhere so I usually end up shooting the 40 cal.

Since you have the 26 and 19, I like allenomics' suggestion. But get the 35 instead of the 34, convertible from .40 -> 9mm or .357sig.

With a username of 9mm I'd say you made the right choice.
I shot my Glock 19 and 23 using a shot timer and a 6" circle. The 6" circle was placed on a larger target at 7 yards. 2nd shot follow up time was only .01 different when averaged.

LoneWolf Dist; barrels/magazines....
What you can try is buying a conversion barrel like LoneWolf Dist or Storm Lake or KKM & then use multiple calibers in the same Glock 23 or 17.
Some gunners say 9x19mm ammunition may have FTF(failure to feed) or function problems because the 23 & 22 are set up to use .40 rounds not .38(9x19mm). I would not use a converted Glock 23 or 17 for duty or concealed carry unless you were 100% sure it can work safely. These Glocks have .22LR kits too. They have frames, magazines, springs & barrels in .22LR. This can help with low cost marksmanship & training. Clyde |

I am pretty happy with my 17, I still enjoy teh 19 and 26. But if I had to buy another Glock it would be the 17, even though the 19 was carried for about three years. The 17 fits my hands much better now than last year (used to have one) feels right now.
