Questions on loading 200gr FP Xtreme bullets

Alright this may have been beat to death but I couldnt find what I was looking for so Ill ask. I am loading for my Ruger P97 and Im running into some OAL concerns. Probably a dumb question but Im seeing alot of OAL data for 200gr loads in the 1.22 on up to 1.24 range. With the plunk test in my barrel anything over 1.18 is staying in the barrel and not falling out via gravity. Am I doin something wrong in my loading process i.e. the 3rd and 4th stage where it seats and crimps??

Bullets: 200 grain FN plated Xtreme bullets

Loader: Dillon SBD

Brass: Various once fired and new Starline

My reloads dont seem to fall out by gravity either when i do a plunk test.aol depends most on bullet design.so if you are taper crimping to .469 .470 and still not plunking correct then you are probably to long.there is a diagram that is posted quite often that shows proper hieght of case when dropped in a 1911 barrel that has been helpful to me.search this site and also 1911 forums on crimp and you will find it.then it will work correct in your ruger.GSPMAN

Hey i just came accross that diagram i told you about.1911 forum then go to reloading bench and view nervouse post and look at #2 post.print it and put by your reload area as i did.big help GSPMAN

Ya I found it lastnight. It does help a lot, kinda what I was looking for. Seems my gun likes shorter oal. At least with this particular bullet design. I'm gonna load some XTP Hornady rounds tonight. There is plenty of load data on those, I'm curious to see if the oal I've seen for those is gonna feed in mine?
