I was finally able to shoot a handgun for the first time this past Sunday. I rented a S&W 617 .22lr and shot 100 rounds. I had a really great time. I did most of the shooting at the 7 yard range, but the last dozen or shots I tried shooting at 25 yards.
I was great to finally shoot and to really experience SA and DA trigger pulls. I've read many posts about the good trigger on S&W revolvers, and the triigger was very good on my rental gun. I'm going to spend alot of time at the range now.

Congrats Chris...

The next step is to find yourself a good coach/instructor or plain 'ol buddy to go to the range with.

You might look into taking an NRA or Concealed carry course, even if you are not planning on getting a permit, just to meet some shooters and get the basics inyour head from the beginning.

Welcome aboard, sir. I'm sure that any of the regulars here will be more than happy to provide any assistance, ideas, or suggestions should you desire to ask. In any event, as was wisely noted in a previous post, get proper instruction and learn. Above all else, have fun......safely. Best to you and yours.
