Need help with Colt SAA

We have a Colt Single Action Army revolver with a 4 3/4" or 5 1/2" barrel (Sorry I don't have the exact measurement). I Believe it is nickel, with mother of pearl grips, and there is some wear from being holstered. the serial number, 137366, can be found on the bottom of the barrel, the trigger guard, and the on the butt of the gun. The only other markings on the barrel are ".38" and "Colt". The number 23 is engraved upside down on the inner side of the loading gate.
From my own research I believe the gun was manufactured in 1891, and the caliber to be .38-40 or .38 WCF (Winchester center fire.)
I'd like to find more information about the piece, and what it might be worth. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The serial number dates it to 1891 but the grips are modern plastic and the plating is fairly recent too.

its obviously a 4 3/4-inch barrel...I'm assuming that everyone knows that the first 4 3/4-inch factory job was a costum order for bat masterson...Colt still has the letter that Bat wrote to order it...I think the last time I saw a copy of it was in 'Guns & Ammo...some years ago...Bat said that he wanted the short barrel so he could draw easier while sitting at a poker table...he requested nickle finish so he wouldn't have to clean it so often...

Those 2 calibers are 1 in the same, fyi. Also, it could have been 38 colt since the barrel does not say "WCF". Without the WCF, unless it was buffed away, I doubt its a winchester caliber. The plating and lack of original grips seriously take away from the value. The grips could be replaced but since the gun was replated, its not worth much of a farther investment. Its a neat historical piece however.
