Shotgun vs rifle scope

I have a nice Winchester shotgun scope that I am tempted to try on a rifle (243). Will I ruin the scope. I ruined a decent 4x rifle scope on a 1200fps pellet gun so know all is not equal in recoil to scopes!!

I think the main difference between a shotgun scope and a rifle scope is the parallax. I believe most manfactures have parallax set at 75 yards for muzzleloader/shotgun scopes and 150 yards for a rifle.

Some pellet guns have recoil in the reverse direction (away from you). Most rifle scopes are not built with that in mind.

It will work fine - unlike when on an airgun. Parallax-free probably at 75 yards instead of 100 or 150, but it will work just fine.
