How I spent my time off

Well, I been cooking up a fresh batch of .45 Colt! Took forever with my trusty single stage press but here it is. 500 rounds in all.

Virgin Starline brass with a Winchester LPP, 10.4gr of HS-6 and topped off with a Missouri Bullet Company 250gr LRNFP bullet.

I don't even own a .45 Colt yet, but hopefully I'll get one soon. At least I'm ready for it

They look great!

Unfortunately when I used to load new rounds ahead I found out:
- I needed a different bullet size to fit the bore
- The accuracy wasn't what I desired, so I ended up just trying to "empty them"
- I decided I wanted to use a different primer
- I decided I needed a different powder load
- I wanted to try something else and now all my brass if loaded
and so on and so on. I also found the more I had loaded up with a given load, the less I liked them. Call it Murphy's law at work.

Now I just load up 10 of each powder increment until I get a chance to prove that is what I really wanted. Hopefully you will not repeat my experience.

Well, I've used HS-6 in .45 Auto, .38 Spl and .357 Magnum and I liked it in those. I also looked online and people seemed to like it in .45 Colt.

I almost did half with Tight Group and half with HS-6 but I was on a roll and didn't want to change powders.

I do have some XTP's that I want to load with Power Pistol, but I should empty 100 cases my first time out shooting so those will get loaded up in due time.

I put $50 down on the TALO birds head Vaquero in .45 Colt weeks ago. Still waiting to get it. My fear is that they are all sold out by now. Does anyone know if they will make a second run on those?

You are fine with your loads. They may not be the very best for accuracy, but they will work well enough for you to get accustomed to your new gun when you get it. After you shoot this batch, you can work up your pet loads on the next batch.

Been there done that.

I was given close to 1K of mil-surp 45 ACP still in the tuna can, and didn't even have a 45. IT sure made a good reason to get one though.

I have loaded up rounds for a few rifles I didn't have either. One year I managed to luck into several hundred .357 cases, I loaded them also, and had them sitting around for close to two years before finally getting a GP-100 to burn them up in.

Good luck with yours, I hope they do well for you.
