50 bmg chamfer tools
hello
does anyone know how well the hornady or lyman 50 bmg debur tools work? are the pilots on those close the 50 bmg diameter or are they loose fitting? thanks |

I can't answer your question but unless you're loading match ammo you'll end up losing money reloading it.

And now for an ON-TOPIC reply...
I have the Hornady 50BMG deburring tool. It works great for every caliber I load: .222 Rem - .50BMG. The "pilot" on the "outside" end is small enough to deburr .17 caliber cartridges. If you're loading anything over .45 caliber, I can highly recommend the Hornady 50BMG deburring tool.
I'm sure the Lyman tool is comparable in performance. |

Dave,
I was wondering about the pilot that goes into the the neck as if to trim the outside of the case. |

The pilot would be loose fitting for a 50 BMG. I have the Lyman and it works for me from 223 to 45/70. It sure is a heck of a lot easier to use than the smaller standard deburring tool.

If you buy the K&M case length trimmer for .50 BMG the cutting blade will chamfer the brass for you. Saves you having to buy two different tools, I use the RCBS chamfer to remove primer stakes or ring crimps as it fits the pockets perfectly.
