22-250 Loads
I've been useing Varget for years but can't find it right now so I picked up some H380. I'm useing a 50gr. Hornady v-max bullet. Anybody got a good starting point? I also have some IMR-4320 if that would work better. This load is for my semi auto rifle.

You have a semi-auto 22/250? I have never heard of one. I'd be interested in seeing a pic of it.

38 gr of H380 is starting load for both 50 and 55gr jacketed bullet in .22-250. That load is how the powder got its name in fact, and it's a great powder for that cartridge. I helped a buddy work up a load for his bolt rifle, I think we settled on about 39 grains, which is about all of that powder we could get in the case without compression IIRC. Book gives a max of 41.0 (c). I generally use magnum primers with ball powder, especially so for an AR. Probably makes sense to start a little shy of that 38gr and work up, for safety's sake.
