Snorted back...worked...sorta

A couple weeks ago someone posted a thread regarding snorting back at deer. Well, yesterday, with about 30 minutes of legal shooting light left, I had a 10 pt walking toward my stand. His body was behind some thick grass, and all I needed to do was take 2 good steps, and he would be clear. I was at full draw, when I heard a couple of ya-hoos riding 4 wheelers 1 pasture over. The deer spooked, but didn't go far. I could hear him walking, but couldn't see him. He walked behind my stand, crossed a fence and was comming back my way when he snorted. I'm busted, he caught my wind. I went on the offensive...I had some tinks 69 in my pocket so I squirted some out. (I was in a 15' ladder stand) he was standing there snorting. So I snorted back. This went on for about 8-10 minutes. Finally he moved on. It got to dark.

bottom line, had I had more time (and a grunt call I left in the truck) he may have been in the freezer. He's still out there, and maybe he'll still get to my freezer. .

Bottom line, it does not hurt to go on the offensive when you're busted like that.

good point; thanks for sharing that. I'm gonna try it in such a "no harm in trying" situation.
