TriDelta AR15 Muzzle Brake Review

I know many people feel you don't need a brake on a 5.56 AR; I agree it's not needed. But, a good one helps you keep the muzzle on target during rapid fire and will likely allow more accurate shooting with smaller split times at a given distance. That's my $0.02 anyway...

Here's a quick summary of what I've found from the TriDelta brake while running it on my LE6920:

Pros:
-The shape of the baffles directs blast energy forward, sideward, and up. It is noticeably quieter compared to the standard birdcage brake from the shooters perspective
-Top ports direct plenty of energy up to keep the muzzle flat while firing
-No ports on the bottom, unlike some other popular brakes, which keeps dirt/sand from kicking up when firing from the prone
-Made in the USA from US steel
-Mil spec phosphate coated, not painted like some others
-No POI shift with the brake vs. the A2
-Cost. It's $58
-No machining marks anywhere on the brake; very smooth appearance inside and out
-IDPA/USPSA competition legal


Cons:
-It's 2.9''
-Weighs 5oz. (This could be a pro as well as a con though because the added weight helps keep the muzzle stable)
-It doesn't come with a crush washer. Not a big deal but just putting it out there so people know when/if they go to order one.

All in all, it's a very effective brake at a cost under $60. I haven't had the chance to fire it at night but I'd imagine there is some trade off in terms of muzzle rise vs flash suppression as there usually is with most brakes.

Considering the fact that you are posting the same exact "review" on multiple gun forums, I have to wonder if perhaps you are related to the company that makes or sells this muzzle brake. Nothing wrong with that, but you really should have full disclosure.

I stumbled across this brand of muzzle brake on eBay and I was looking for some objective reviews of it on a Glock 21. I'm in the process of building a .460 Rowland conversion and wanting to know about the choices in compensators for it.

Did you happen to notice that he also runs a YouTube channel where he reviews multiple gun related items from different company's and from his videos that I have watched he always seems unbiased and he will give you the pros and cons of anything he happens to review.

He does decent reviews, but he does have a huge bias towards mil-spec. When someone believes that the average, or common denominator is supreme, that is something you need to recognize.

The current era of the AR15/MSR is leaving mil-spec behind rapidly. That is good and bad depending on the specific need or desire.

Now, to counter that I do have a love affair with melonite/nitride and that's certainly not mil spec anything. I reviewed the C39 AK positively as well and it's pretty far from a com-bloc factory AK. I also review tons of accessories that aren't mil spec either; most positively. Additionally I reviewed an 870 recently and gave it pretty negative marks and there's a lot of 870s in the .mil inventory.

So, perhaps a bias is perceived as reality. Don't know. Just throwing it out there.

Coatings...love and horror. Melonite, Nickel-Teflon, QPQ NiB, TiN, and the various forms of nitriding...all can enhance a part, but some can ruin them if you don't know what you are doing.

Same goes for comps. Some last 2K, some 30K. Proper material and heat treat can make a good brake elevate to excellent. It is tough to be a "tester" or "reviewer" because in some sense you have to "trust" the specs and if it works out of the box, then great. But the end of life testing, and even testing to eventual failure is something most companies do not do, and it would be very hard for an "independant" tester to be able to afford such testing and abuse jsut due to $.

So if you are starting to enjoy parts that are not mil-spec, you will have a harder time doing compare and contrast on a "moving target."

I'd imagine their 45 version of this would be pretty effective on the 460 Rowland though.

I went with the standard 460 Rowland brand brake on mine. Thing's a beast!

Fair enough. Just seeing the exact same review on multiple sites made me a bit suspicious, especially since your video was also on the manufacturer's website.

Looks like you went with a M1911 for the conversion. I'm planning on using a G21. I would not be surprised if the Lone Wolf one was better than the TriDelta, but the Lone Wolf one looks like it would be too wide to fit in my kydex holster whereas the TriDelta one looks to be no larger than the existing barrel, so it would probably fit.

Interesting... It really is hard to tell from the photo. I thought it was just my old eyes, but even when I zoomed in on it, I could not see enough detail to make me recognize it as a Glock. Probably because your hands cover up that brick of a grip.
