Never used a HP but I wouldnt own a gun that looks like uhh that. Its more personal preference I assume.

What was that person thinking???? If I drop my gun in the field and now ya cant find it because it blended in too well.....

This isn't exactly "news". The Hi Power with the digital camo finish has been on the Browning website for over six months.

Anyone else remember the Mossy Oak finish BHP from a couple of years ago? Even uglier.:barf:

Nothing Duracoat couldn't fix.

Saw one in person today. Yik. Why, oh why?

And even if you like that sort of thing, the paint was sloppy on the front face of the muzzle.

I saw that new browning at Bass Pro Shop... looked as great as a hi-power usually does but I don't like how fake the finish looked. haha

BHP

No BHP is worth $900.00! They haven't changed that much since 1935! $500.00 is reasonable for a new BHP.

Man, I just can't agree with that! I don't have, and haven't had a problem dropping a grand for a fabulous blued HP. Bought a T Series a couple days ago that I feel I stole for $900.

All steel pistol made by western European workers who own wages more or less in line with what American workers get -- $900 High Powers come from the same market forces that make $900+ 1911s so common.

Like 1911s, too, if you don't mind getting one from some place like the Philippines, where labor is cheaper, they do only cost $500.

I wouldn't mind a well done OD green or perhaps desert tan, but that's just hideous. Pass...

I would buy it but only if it comes with night sights, no mag safety, a tuned trigger.

I think that what is throwing off the looks of that gun for most of you is the cheap black plastic grips. If you replace those with some genuine pearl grips, or even faux pearlite grips, Y'all wouldn't be able to keep your paws off of it!!

I'll bet FN loves that pistol... it basically lets them sell a basic MkIIIS with a $250-300 markup and the only thing it costs them is the finish work.

Personally, I am not a big fan of this BHP myself.

I would rather see Browning make a Hi-Power that has the C&S ring hammer (much more comfortable to carry IWB cocked and locked than the spur hammer - which will occasionally remind you why it is called a spur hammer when it sticks you in the side as you move).

I'm also not a fan of the stock Browning sights (white dot goes all the way to the top of the sight and makes it difficult to distinguish the top of the sights on some backgrounds - if they would just remove this, that would make the sights decent).

I also like the Spegel/Uncle Mikes/Navridex style of grip over the plastic thumbrest grip that comes stock; but the old boxy wood grips are good too.

As far as practical use goes, a version with a reengineered ejector, firing pin retaining plate and recoil guide would make the pistol even more durable and better able to compete with the polymer wonders, though I guess FN has essentially given up trying to sell the HP to that market and is now going for the 1911/Collectible crowd.

Is it just me or does that finish make a guy dizzy?
