Wondering if anyone has experience with this modification to their pistol?

I have one built on the compact Springfield Armory 1911 by Ted at Gunsmith. The package is neat but I have had some problems with reliable feeding and the slide locking back with rounds in the mag. It made several trips back to the Smithy without much improvement leaving me miffed. But, I have rather small hands and the reduced grip diameter is great. Also I had the low safety installed and like it.
Hope this helps.

Nyala,

If you are using the MagPac magazines that Gunsite recommends that may be your problem. Try either Chip McCormick's Shooting Star or Wilson mags.

Thanks for the response guys. Yes, try different magazines. In my experience, slide lock and feeding problems are just as likely to be magazine problems as the weapon. Surprised Gunsite didn't suggest that.
