Bobtail work
I'm planning on having a couple of my 1911 units Bobtailed. Anyone in the Northwest have any recommendations? What would be a fair price for nearly perfect work? What about lead time? Thanks all for the help.

I can't help you with your region, but I"ll tell you this from experience.
Do not settle for less-than-best work just because the guy is local. I got my Colt bobtailed by a local metal hack. I thought, "Lots of guys do it themselves, how hard can it be?" Well this guy butchered my 1911. It's not a collectible or anything, but now it's worth even less. I should have shipped it to a top national 1911 gunsmith, waited the X weeks, and paid a little more. Then I wouldn't have a boogered 1911. Painful lesson. |

Call Dave Nielson at South Ridge Arms at 253-576-7096. Dave does nice work, and does GunKote as well. He is just outside of Orting.
