6.8 Spc

What is the largest game that could be easily taken with this cartridge? I am thinking about getting a RRA upper for my AR and using it for whitetails in southern Iowa, if it can humanely do the job.

since there are those people who hunt white tail with .223 I would say 6.8 is good for deer. I personaly would not use it on anything bigger then a deer though.

That is kind of what I figured. I would not use .223 because I am not sure it could do the job and it is illegal for deer in Iowa.

Just ordered a Stag Arms left handed 6.8 mm SPC. Have not got it yet, but from what I have read it appears that it could do the job on deer. I think I will stick to the 30 06 for deer though.

Ruger has introduced their Mini-14 in the caliber. Might be real interesting. It is about time that Ruger is trying to make the Mini a bit better rifle. Looks like it would work for whitetails if you limit your range a bit.

6.8 SPC has taken a lot of deer already. Like most calibers - especially the intermediate calibers, its terminal performance depends on correct bullet selection and shot placement.

I'm thinking of building one to hunt pigs with.
