Question about O.A.L.

I am loading 300wsm savage with 180xbt barnes. I checked the oal to the lands with my stoney point. and the length came to 2.900. I backed off 050. and seated to 2.850. After about 4 rounds loaded I noticed the load was compressed some. I wanted to make sure the rounds fit into the box magazine . the max Oal is 2.860. are the compressed loads a problem.

Thanks blackhawk8

Compressed loads should not be a problem as long as you are within the powder charge specs of a reliable reloading manual. Some powders fill the case more than others, so a lot of it is what powder you are using.

It would surprise me if a 2.860 length would not fit your magazine.

Using a drop tube will help. You need not run out and buy one unless you want to. I made one from an old bic pen.
