I've used most of the powders on the list, some for thousands of rounds. While I've been doing a lot of experimenting over the last couple of years - WST, Zip, HP38/W231, N310 - I have come back to Clays. It was a favorite, then I started getting very erratic performance. After finding nothing that works as well for my application (200gr @850fps), I'm giving Clays another chance. Cheap, burns clean, and light recoil at my power level.

In .45 Colt, it's a toss-up between Promo and Herco. Promo for light-to-middle loads, Herco for hot loads. (Unique would probably cover both) Cast bullets, of course.
Ruger Bisley-Blackhawk with 7.5" barrel.

CZ97 B, S&W 625(2), Ruger BH Convertible .45ACP/45Colt.
I use both Clays and W231. Clays seems to be somewhat cleaner, with similar recoil. If I cannot get one, I will happily use the other. DocAitch |

I loaded some 230 hardball with some Winchester Super Field I had laying around. I like it just as well as my usual 6.5gr of Unique. Both loads (uniq and sf) shoot in the same place, and eject in the same place, so I can live with either. Not that big a deal. I may go to bullseye...but I don't have any laying around at the moment. What ever is handy.

4.5 gr bullseye and 230 gr lead bullets since the 70's for my accurate target loads. Haven't had any compelling reason to do other wise.

I have a stainless steel Springfield "Loaded" 1911A1. I voted for Bullseye. But the ones I really use are SR-4756 for jacketed, and American Select for plated.

I voted Bull's Eye. It is what works for me in .45 acp. I do like using Titegroup also. The Titegroup burns much cleaner than the bulls eye. It is just bulls eye works well with my home cast 200 gr. LSWC well so I use it. It shoots well in my M&P 45.

I use Bullseye, W-231, and Clays for 45 ACP. I load almost exclusively a 200gr LSWC, cast myself.
I have a pound of TiteGroup that I'm going to experiment with, as I hear lots of good things about it. |

Bullseye is my #1 choice in both my .45's, followed closely by W231.

I've always used W231. But recently tried WST after reading an article on it. I get good running ammo at the listed MAX 4.9 grains.
I'll never understand people who load with powders that require 7 and 8 or more grains of powder. That's like throwing money out the window. |

Also a lot of times the current favorite load a fellow uses is the powder he has on hand at that moment.
