I am just wondering about all the threads on general that are about election related topics. Wouldn't the Legal/Political forum make more sense for those threads?

Yes they would.

It is the responsibility of the member posting each new topic to place it in the most appropriate forum. When this doesn't happen, it falls to the staff to move threads around. There's always a few topics that don't exactly belong in any forum, but it is up to the discretion of each staff member as to whether to move it or not.
