Surefire 6p or 6z

I am considering a surfire but can't decide which one to get. Anyone have any opinions on which one I should purchase?

I guess it depends on whether you prefer the Harries style of flashlight use, or the Rogers style. I don't like the Rogers technique, so I'll stick to the P series...

I disagree with Ivenhoe. Get the 6Z. That way you can use either use style as the situation required.

Any of them should do you fine. I agree with Mr. Schmidbauer on getting a Z series. I have a 9Z and it's absolutely blinding! Plus I can use either technique. Whether for tactical or tool purposes, it works great. Well worth the investment on any of 'em.

Both works well enough, but I find the 6Z is more versatile for tactical use.

I think I may end up going for the 6z. I was interested in the p series after seeing one attachedto a USP using standard weaver bases.

I vote for 6Z also. Haven't had experience with 6P but the 6Z is excellent. Buy your replacemnt batteries in bulk, gonna stick it to ya at drug store or retail place.

Did you see the new M3? This thing looks pretty sweet. Thinking of selling the 6P and buying one. They look to be the best of the best.

What company makes the M3 and how much do they cost? Do they run on common batteries, ie. AA, or lithiums? Replacement bulbs $ ?

See my thread on the double barrel. Its Not nearly as bright as the Surefire series, but its better than the typical regulation lights that you see on most cops' belts.
Is anyone familiar with the bright little Underwater Kinetics mini 40?

The M3 is the newest combat light from Sure Fire. It uses the same lithium batteries as the 6P/6Z. It is designed to be compatible with the new Sure Fire weapons lights. You can read all about them at www.botach.com. under the flashlight section.

I've got the first M3 Millenium that Surefire shipped to my lovely city and it is truly awesome. The low power lamp puts out 125 lumens and runs for about an hour. The hi-output unit dumps 225 lumens & burns through a set of batteries in approx. 20 minutes My only problem has been finding a carrier for it. It is quite a bit wider across the lamp assy than my 9P. I've got a lamp-down kydex carrier coming from Pierside this week, so we'll see how it goes. I'm only carryiing it when I utilize a fanny pack or its cool enough for a coat (Big pockets.)

I saw a new variant of the Sure Fire 6volt lights at the SHOT show. It has a hex shaped ridge arround the bezel (won't roll off the table) and a new switch assembly that includes a lock out position so it won't come on accidently (in your pocket or gear bag). It also has a new pocket clip permenantly attached and can be used just like the 6Z for those of you who use the Rogers technique. The beauty of the 6 volt variant is that it is small enough to go anywhere with you, I can't say the same about the M3 or the 9Z.
