Sig 1911
i have recently been looking into the sig 1911 and i was wondering if anyone that owned one had any positive or negative reviews on one. they are very appealing to me and any opinions or advice would be helpful.
Thanks

I ordered the tactical 1911 with threaded barrel but it is on backorder from Sig. They said I'll have it in approx. four weeks. I'll post results as soon as I get it.

They usually run fine.
Their extractor choice looks like :barf: Holsters molded for the standard 1911 won't fit the square-ish slide profile Sig uses. For me and my preferences, there are better choices for the same price. If you really like the look, I'm sure you'll get along great.

Sig has many 1911s;
the squared GSR style which doesn't fit all holsters and has an excellent ext extractor. the new "conventional" style 1911s haven't hit the stores yet and the ATI garbage .22lr "1911" toy should be avoided. Sig 1911s are very smooth and high quality, the accuracy runs right up there with the SA RO, but there is much more attention to detail in the GSR1911s. They use an external extractor, which parts from the original idea. I think it is an improvment, giving the extractor a wider angle and larger surface area. I think they are some of those guns that are undercredited. |

I own two Sig 1911s and both look, feel and shoot fantastic (IMHO). I find they are just as dependable/reliable as my other 1911s I own and external extractors on a 1911 doesn't bother me a bit. My 5" government model is the Sig TTT (basically a full size reverse two-tone 1911 model) and the other is a CCO type model (commander length slide on an officer sized frame) called the Sig RCS (The RCS comes in both an all Nitron (black) finish for the slide and the frame and also in the one I have where the frame is Nitron finished and the slide is flat stainless (the frame on both types of RCS models is Aluminum alloy and the frame on my TTT is stainless steel). The only thing I changed on both of them is the grips (The TTT has Hogue G-10 checkered extreme grips on it and the RCS has VZ 320 grips on it) and the mags (I use 8rd CMC Power Mags in the TTT and 7rd Wilson Combat officer mags in the RCS). Here are few pics of my two Sig 1911s together. Hope this helps.

nothing wrong with the Sig 1911's ...I've fired a variety of their 1911 models at my local range - that rents some of them.
I own a variety of 1911's ...Kimber, Brown, Baer and Wilson ...and I think the Sig's compare very favorably to Kimbers...maybe better. The external extracor doesn't bother me... |

SIG 1911s
I had 3 GSRs (all 1st generation) and got rid of them all. Each went back to Exeter but the problems I had left a very bad taste in my mouth! If you're serious about 1911s, get the best -COLT-, they're the best by far!!!

I have a stainless carry model. It has been 100% relaible through several hundred rounds. It has an excellent, crisp trigger pull. Novak night sights. Checkered front strap and checkered steel mainspring housing. I got it new for $860. It easily fits my Galco FLETCH holster that I also carry my Colt Commander in.

The very early Sig 1911s had problems. They seem to be straightened out. I have a Sig C3 that I routinely carry.
