Pledge As A Lube??
Has anyone used Pledge as a case lube for straight wall pistol cases? I remember reading about it in Lee's Modern Reloading and was thinking about giving it a try on say every 4th or 5th case.

If you are using Carbide it might be good, but for normal dies I wouldn't take a chance on a stuck case in the die.

See Page 71 Moden Reloading

I have carbide 38/357 dies and like you said, sometimes it needs a little lube. I wasn't sure if it had any chemical that could cause the brass to fail.

Lube...
I use carbide dies for .38/.357, and have NEVER needed a lube nor used one. Also never stuck a case nor had any such problems.
That said, IF I wanted a case lube, I would use a CASE LUBE. There are plenty of choices, all tried and true, so why mickey-mouse around with some other product that might or might not work, or be deleterious to the brass, or be hard to clean off, or have some other problem based on the fact that it was never designed to be a case lube? For FL sizing with bottle-neck rifle cases, I used to use RCBS Case Lube 2, and it worked just fine. Switched to Imperial Sizing Die Wax and that's even better. I understand that some reloaders swear by Hornady's One Shot. Bottom line: there are a number of "the right" products so there is no reason short of desperation, to try some substitute.

I use Silicone Spray to lube .30 M1 Carbine brass when I resize it in carbide dies. (don't try this with steel dies)
I've also tried it with 9mm and it makes them much easier to size but I mostly do those without lube. I used to use Lemon Pledge as a top coat on spit-shined shoes in rainy weather, but I think they've changed the formula since then. Bob

We used pledge to lubricate the rods on our fooseball tables for years. The manufacturer suggested silicone, but we used pledge when I was a kid at the bowling alley. So we did a comparison. Pledge costs a little more but produced a much smoother "stick free" action. Oughta work fine.
