Internet Purchase Rec'd Without FFL
We purchase guns online and have a C. & R license. However, one purchase arrived and the seller had not included a copy of their FFL/C & R/ or any ID with the firearm and have not sent anything despite our requests.
What is the liability on this? Does it just fall on us that the record we have to keep does not include an FFL or ID from the seller? |

Was the seller a resident of your state? If so, and if he/she is a non-dealer, there is no obligation on his/her part to provide you with any information.

It was an out of state purchase.

Was the seller an FFL? If so, you can give the ATF Field Division in their area a call, and they can verify the seller's license and FFL number.

The sender is not required to provide a copy of their FFL, but you do need identification information for your A&D book.

Is it OK to leave the information we do have in our A & D book without their FFL number, even though they have a FFL?

If you have the name of the business and their address, that's fine.
