Alternate Primer
Can anyone tell a newbie what is a good alternative to CCI Benchrest Primers?
Reloading .308 with Seirra 175gn HPBT, Hodgdon BL-C(2) Powder, and Norma Brass.

It never hurts to follow the primer that was used to develop the load you are using. Since you don't state your source, if you go to the Hodgdon Load Center they show THEY used the Federal 210M primer for all their 308 loads.

You can use the magnum primers with ball powders. Some load books actually recommend it. CCI-250's
With all tests I did the Wolf (Russian)std primers were better with Ball or Stick powders

Any large rifle primer will work. Just start your load development over as you would when changing any component.
I personally like the Fed 210M and 215M LR primers. |
