ar lower

How would you rate those composite lowers for an AR. think they would hold up verses other regular lowers.

I have an all polymer Carbon-15 - had it for about 12 years, maybe longer. I've put plenty of rounds through it and there's no wear and tear on the lower or the upper receivers.

With forged aluminum lowers available for as low as $60, why even bother with the polymer ones?

Why not, they both do the same thing; except the polymer ones are lighter. If you could get a strong, no-corroding lower receiver made of XYZ material that was lighter than polymer, wouldn't you consider it?

I would if the platform was designed to use a polymer receiver.

In the case of the AR-15, it wasn't.

Absolutely zero problems with my Cav Mk2. The gun is 6 lbs as pictured:

It also wasn't designed for .300 AAC, .30 Remington AR, 6.8 SPC, 6x47mm, 6x45mm, .458 SOCOM, .50 Beowulf, and on and on....
Yet, I don't see any complaints about having those options available.

Regardless....
The AR-15 lower receiver is more fragile than it appears.
The difference between polymer and aluminum is negligible.
Polymer actually has a leg up on aluminum in the deformation category.... It springs back!
