125 Grain lead , 38 special

Anyone have a good , medium target load for 38 special, 125 Lead? Using W231 or Unique

4.0 grs of ww231 works for me.

Thanks, that is actually what I was going to start with, unless someone had a load they though worked better

I started with 4 and went up to 4.7 with hp38/231

4.3 had nicest feel for my 2 1/4" (mrs chucky's sp101)

Hello, I got great groups with unique 4.1 grs with a 150 lswc. If it was me ,I'd start at 4.3grs [10 rds] and load 10 at 4.5grs for the 125gr lead. You'll may like one of these two, you may be able to go alittle higher,but I wouldnt go anylower that 4.1grs.. I dont need mag loads to shoot paper!

I use 3.5 gr 231 in my 125 gr plinking loads for 38 Special.

BTW I do have manuals, mostly from the powder manufacturers, and I have access to several other manuals where I buy my supplies. I just always like to get real world feedback from other re loaders when possible. A lot of the time there are discrepancies in what the different manuals show, or they dont have info on the exact bullet/powder combo I am interested in using.

have had good luck with 4.0 gns hp-38 (231), fed 100 primer and 125 lrnfp.

You have to work up the load for your revolver.
