My oldest son (23)is headed to Vegas Friday nite (6/2), and seeing as how he prefers to spend his money by sampling the different characteristics of selective fire weapons rather than lose it at the tables , does anybody have a list of ranges they could recommend?
TIA

If you plan to spent a lot of $$$$$$$$, there is a guy in Pahrump, NV(about 45min. west of Las Vegas) that will rent you .50 machineguns as well as 20mm machineguns

I was in Vegas at the beginning of the year.
Went to the Gun Store and shot a full auto MP5A3. A lot of fun. They have a decent selection to chose from.

Fired that MP5 at the gunstore.
Reason they charge $30 is "because the guns need lot's of maintenance". MP5 kept jamming on me. Doubt that much of our hard-earned cash goes into maintenance.
But lot's of fun nonetheless.

EW: Anymore info on how to locate that guy in Pahrump? I'm thinking of taking a trip through death valley later in the year...

I'd be interested in the address of the guy in Pahrump; if you happen to find it could you email it to me. I'll be out in Vegas next spring for my buddie's bachelor party. Booze, women, gambling and guns are the name of the game. (Of course not in any specific order )

Hiya!
Just thought I'd pop in to comment.

Pieter, I fired that same weapon a couple of weeks ago. It still jammed. Heh heh... the rangemaster that hovered over me tried saying that it was jamming due to the fact that I was attempting to fire bursts, rather than firing the full mag at one time. I knew this was baloney, but I tried to humor him by firing a full mag. Still jammed.
Obviously, this was due to the fact that they're not cleaned often.
Like you say, it was still a lotta fun!

As for the guy in Pahrump, I live there, work in a gun store there and haven't heard a thing about him.
Maybe you're referring to The Front Sight? They have free SMG courses, but only use the UZI. The last course is offered late in June however.
And yes, it really IS free, The only "catch" is that they try to sell you property at the sight. The idea is that they wanna make a Gun Community, sorta like a Golf Community. I've also heard that their handgun, pistol and shotgun courses are done well.

About the guy in Pahrump, NV Give Acme Gun and Pawn a call, (702)751-2263.

All I can say is .50 caliber machine gun is A LOT of FUN and A LOT of $$$$$$$$$, but, you've got to try it.(FYI, $50per person included only 10 rounds, $4.00 per round after that, minimum spending is $500.00 total, but than again, it doesn't take long to pass that minimum, trust me, I know). He also has just about any machinegun or submachinegun you want to shoot.

VG, I have to say I really enjoy your The Deadly, Scary Leatherman Micra page. If you are in Pahrump, you've got to give 50 caliber a try, if you like machineguns, you will love the M2HB 50 caliber.(If anyone ever try the 20mm, please tell us about it, even just the semi-auto Lahti Anti-Tank Rifle)

If anyone knows anything about the GE Mini Gun and Twin 30s, please tell me, especially if you've got a link to a photo.

I also fire that same MP5 back in Jan. this year. We fire total about 200 rounds, it only jam one, guess I'm lucky, and that is what got me to look for machinegun rentals, six long months of searching, I found this guy in Pahrump, HOORAY~~~~~~~anyone thinking about renting machineguns, I would have to say, DO IT, especially if you are heading to Las Vegas, $500.00 for a (short)time of you life is better than donating for a new casino

Have fun and be safe!!!

EW - Glad you liked the Leatherman page

Use the knowledge wisely... heh heh heh...
FYI, Acme Pawn is no longer dealing with firearms at the Pahrump location. I moved here in March and one of the first things I did was to scope out (oh, these puns just kill me!!) the gun stores. I stopped at Acme and was informed that they only deal with firearms at their Las Vegas location. What they did BEFORE I got here, I can't say. Since the phone number you mention is a 702 area code, I have to assume that it's been a while since you dealt with them. The area code in Pahrump is now 775
The only place that sells guns (doesn't rent 'em) is 23KPG. There's a couple of others listed in the phone books, but they're just FFL holders who only order for the public. They don't stock anything to speak of.
In any event, I would LOVE to try the .50 BMG!!! I was even considering purchasing a semi-auto Ma Deuce, but that went for over $7,000! Between the price of that, and the gazillions of ammo that I'd naturally need, I'd be in debt until I was 678 years old.
I'll have to look for some mini-gun sites for you.... SOF recently had an article about the new version, but since it was written by Peter Kokalis, it went mostly over my head.
Probably very informative, is my guess!

Since you fired the MP 5 in January, I can only assume that the staff at the Gun Store cleans their SMGs every Christmas.. lol Still, even with the jams I had a blast!
(Ya can't STOP me from punnin', I tell ya!!!!)
Thanks for all the info!

VG,
Sorry about the phone #, It is 775-751-2263, I was looking at the list of guns they gave me when I was there(about a week ago), guess they never print a new list. Anyhow, give them a call and ask for Tom, nice guy, I don't know if they sell guns, but, for sure you can rent them. Again, just make sure you bring a lot of money$$$$$$$ when you go, you'll need them, I know this from experence!! The last thing you want is running out of money when you just starting to have some fun!!

BTW, I know the shop(if you call that trailer a shop) they have doesn't look very impressive, but, turst me, this guy have just about anything you can think up!!

Hmmmm.... looks like I was wrong once again!
Oh well, at least I have a perfect score.

You're right about the other shop, although they're able to get just about anything and the prices are a bit better than in Vegas.

Now to decide if I want to save my money to buy or to rent..... decisions decisions!!!
Thanks EW!

The Gun Store definately only cleans 'round Xmas. I was there late September. MP5 only shot a max. of 6 round burst, and not by my choice...

Acme is going to be difficult with that $500 spending minimum. Seems like I'll have to choose between my ticket (Holland->USA) or shooting, but can't shoot without the ticket, can I!
And no, a one-way is not cheaper than a returnticket.
But hey, I can always buy me a single shot airgun next paycheck. We don't need a permit for the tiny ones
