I see these kits advertised in various publications and was wondering what the story is. Is it legal for an individual to actually complete one of these kits (I realize that the transer tax would need to be paid etc.) Is this even practical ? I was sorta interested in the Sten gun. It sounds like an inexpensive way to get into a sub gun but like most things that sound to good to be true.......

You're right on the too good to be true thing. The machine gun ban of '86 means there are no new machine guns for the general populace.

You can not build a functioning gun legally from these kits.
