Are there any markings on it?

Tell him to remove the fore end, and then separate the barrels and action and look on the water table and the barrel flats. Also tell him not to pull the trigger with no ammo or snap caps in the gun, or especially with the barrels and action separated. I'm guessing the guy doesn't know squat about guns.
