I have a used remington 870 express 20 gauge. It is marked 870 express Magnum on the reciver. It only came with a slug barrel that is rifled. I want to get a vented rib barrel so i can phesant and squirrle hunt.

What do i need!!! Somebody just tell me everything that i need to know.

All you need to do is buy a new Remington 870 barrel in the right gauge, and with whatever type of choke you want, a fixed choke or more likely a screw-in choke so you can change it to other chokes.

You can buy many different option barrels direct from Remington or from places like Midway, and you can buy new and used barrels from gun shops, and pawn shops.

I cant find any new ones anywhere for a 20 gauge. even on remington .com

And what does the"Magnum" mean on my reciver? it still shoots the standard 2 34" and 3" shells. it just says Magnum

Ebay has alot of barrels. Your receiver will take any 20 gauge barrel with the small ring except a, "special field barrel." A quarter will not pass through the ring on the small ring barrel. If you wish to shoot 3" shells You will need to make sure to get a barrel with a 3" chamber. You could get a good trade for your rifled barrel.

You will not find the barrel on Remington's website. Call Remington Parts and order direct.

Deleted as I am not certain what you need. There is a 20 GA light weight 870 barrel for sale on E-bay but I do not know if you can use a "light weight" barrel.
