Lawrence shotgun?

A coworker recently inherited a 12 gauge double barrel marked "Lawrence". It is at least 50 years old. I am more or less ignorant about sporting shotguns, so other than advising him not to run out and fire it, I couldn't tell him much. Anybody able to tell me a bit about the company and any potential worth of the gun? I haven't actually seen it, so I can't give any details about markings or conditon.
