CA Ammunition Question

Just moved from Colorado to California. Can I purchase handgun ammo with a Colorado ID?

I'm stationed in CA, I always use military ID and have never had an issue, as far as I know they are only checking ID for your age not residency.

Some places they log it and report it to local L.E. they then do a record check for felony's as a felon cannot possess a gun so he shouldn't need ammo. Search warrant pending.
