I have been thinking of getting a Mossberg 9200 ($899 Canadian) but just got offered an amazing deal on a Mossberg 5500 ($550 Canadian). The dealer tells me that the 5500 is the same as the 9200 but is a discontinued model. Does the 5500 have the gas compensating system that the 9200 does. Are there any other differences between the two of them? I am concerned that the shotgun will cycle both high and low powered shells. It would really burn if I bought the 5500 and it failed to function with all loads. Please advise. Thanks.

Sucks here in Kanada

Mossberg Collectors: 1-636-937-6401. They should be able to give you detailed info on the 5500 (never heard of it myself).
