What is the extra "gizmo" in the Hornady die set?
Dies are Hornady 40S&W/10MM nitride 3-set dies. The three dies cam fully assembled.
However, there is a single stainless piece (1 3/8 tall) included in the plastic box that has a flat bottom and a lip at the top. It looks like a seating stem without a hollow area for the bullet nose. This is my first set of Hornady dies. Is this a seating stem for a wad cutter (flat nose) bullet? I don't see anything on point in the instruction booklet that came with the die set. The instructions seem to be generic for all pistol/rifle die sets. thx... |

It is a flat seating plug for use on flat nose bullets, like XTP bullets.
