XD gun jam

Well I was testing my first .45ACP rounds.

5.7gr W231, WLP primer, Hornady 230gr FMJ in new Winchester brass. 1.25OAL.

I have a loaded case stuck in the gun and the slide won't retract. It moves about 3/16in and that's it. I have the magazine out of it. Doesn't move any more with loaded or unloaded magazine in it.

I test cycled several or the rounds by hand before attempting to shoot them.

Any suggestions on how to disassemble to remove the stuck cartridge?

Same thing happened to my Dads XD45. He reloaded a bunch of Hornady HAP 230g at 1.250, gun jammed. He had to take it to a gunsmith but he did not ask how the smith got it apart. Now he at 1.210 OAL with no problems.

Drilled 2 holes and reamed out a 2x4 to fit the barrel and guide rod.

Jammed the gun into the holes.

It was a squib.

Sprayed with Break-Free and wiped it clean. Awesome gun.

Worked like a champ.
