H4831SC vs RE#22 vs H4350vs Mag Pro
What is happening in my chamber. 53grs of H4350 in my 6x284 pushes a 87gr V-Max about 3,600 FPS with shinny ejector mark. 56.5 grs of H4831 pushes same bullet 3,510 FPS no pressure signs.56.5 grs of RE#22 pushes same bullet 3,550FPS. 58.5 grs of Accurate Mag Pro produces 3,495 FPS. I wonder what H1000 or IMR 7828 will do. My BBL is a 10"Twist 26" Hart Varmint BBL all bullets seated into lands. I'd get fliers with H4350 . Re#22 and Mag pro produced best accuracy H4831 was very good also but 2nd place.

Burn rate
Ironworker, of all the powders you mention, 4350 is the fastest as far as burn rate and is causeing higher preasures hence the higher velocity. I would stick with the 4831 or simular speed. Or maybe back off the 4350 a bit at a time and see if it shrinks your groups. 7828 and H1000 should be too slow for the lighter bullet and produce lower velocities before you get up to preasure. Good luck with the V-Max, it's a hell of a bullet. Very acurate and dynomite on varmits. I use them here in Ohio for ground hogs and it takes them apart.

RL 19 and RL 22 are close to H4350 and H4831, respectfully.

I'm at the point now where all I use is RL powders and Vitavouhri
Stick with the RL .22, it is giving you the best accuracy with a decent velocity WildfanofthenordicpowdersAlaska TM |
