S&W dob or any information

Father passed away & I came across a S&W 38 special ctg.
stainless steel with wood grips with the S&W logon in the stock.
4" barrell
6 shot
model 10 5
D11xxx

It sounds like you have a model 10 - and if serial number you gave us is accurate - the S&W book says 1968.

But model 10's were only made in blued and Nickel finish - is there a chance yours in Nickel and not stainless ?

A photo would really help us make sure what it is .

you're right - nickel ... see what I know.
is the '5' after the 10 like a revision number
see attached ... not real good at this stuff
