True...however, the information we are discussing here in this thread, specifically gun ownership, is information that is NOT readily available to the casual user on the internet.

True sir, but my point being that with the exception of areas where there is extreme safeguarding of information such as classified intel info, most any info generated has a fair chance of becoming associated and public.
Then look at Bradley Manning, who released classified info onto the net. Even Sipernet / JWICS isn't immune.

Last statistic I read about (teen mis)use of the Internet was that better than half of "sexting" pictures end up on the open net, something most netizens don't consider when the make and send.

Nothing like a future 9 year old asking, 'hey Dad, here is a picture of mom in high school. What is that guy doing to her?'

So why would we think a form given to a hostile group not leak it for their own purposes.....
Welcome to the information age.

On the line about what you're talking sbout, the above article shows many problems these days that "shouldn't" happen except for the fact that these searches can be done in a ragtag fashion these days(the article explains).

This is just one more reason why we should not have to fill out a "form" and obtain a license to exercise a Constitutional right.

This happened in NC also. WRAL gathered all the data, put it in a searchable database and posted it online.

you brought up NC too. My thing is this is lawsuit worthy(we already know what would happen if a tragedy occured because of this...), but not only that: it is almost like persons are being put on "the list" because they favor CCW...stereotyping at its best I guess.

Most governments are not sympathetic to gun rights. Luckily I live in a state with very liberal laws in favor of guns and gun owners.

Case in point in NC: An actual search engine is contained:
http://www.wral.com/news/state/nccap...archAgain=true

Apparently is is still active. I tried a few addresses and got no results as as test. Don't know if it is still liked to the database.
