Rossi Model 92 SRC

Recently I added a Rossi Model 92 357 Mag to my collection. It is marked Interarms on the barrel, so I believe it was produced pre - 1997 model when they were distributing the Rossi 92's. The receiver and frame is covered in a stamped scroll work finish, in what appears to be nickel plating. I have not seen a similar Rossi finished this way and was wonfering if anyone out there knows much about this particular model as I have not found much about this version on the internet.

Here are a couple pictures of the Rossi in question. It does say Alexandria Virgina on the Barrel and on the other side it is stamped made in Brazil and it does not have a modern style safey on it.

They've been offered in a ton of variations over the years including brass frame and muskets. Their all good quality and yours looks like a beauty. Have fun

That's a pretty deluxe '92! The plating appears to be chrome, rather than nickel. If you can post close ups of the engraving I can tell you wether it is hand engraved, etched, or stamped.

I recently took it in to a gunsmith that I use and he looked at it under 5X magnification. He felt the work had been hand done as he found one spot where the border eas not perfectly aligned. He said it looked like there was a marking that looked like the tool was struck from a slighly different angle that made a slight inperfefcion. He said the leaf pattern was similar to what he had seen on some older Whinchesters. I thought the finished looked like chrome as well. There was one thing that was not perfect on it and that was the fit of the butt plate, but my gunsmith felt it may have come out of the factory that way and said that would be an easy fix. I should have it back in a day or two.

I had thought I would use this in Cowboy Action rather than our fancy Uberti 73 Sport Border Edition, but this one appears never to have been fired. I may end up still using the trusty 94 Marlin, but on the other hand whats the sense of having it if I'm not going to shoot it.

G'day there, I just stumbled across this thread while trying to find info on my new purchase. It too is a Rossi 38/357 SRC with the fancy reciever. I posted a query over at leverguns but didn't get too big a response.

I'm curious to know when it was made, and why the fancy receiver.
Serial No. seems low K004429 and someone sugested early 70's?

I too have recently purchased a Rossi engraved, chrome (?) plated SRC carbine in great condition in .357.

Enquires of some of our major gun dealers here, in Australia, have drawn a blank as no one has ever seen or heard of a Rossi of this description.

Serial number is KOO#### (to be confirmed).

I'll take note of it's markings and report same.

Someone out there must know about these odities.

Just found some paperwork and the serial number is #KOO42## so they are relatively low numbers and in about the same range.

So they must have done a "limited" run of guns of this configuration.

Checked up on my Rossi last night.

It is marked Amadeo Rossi SA, 38 SPL - 357 Mag, Made in Brazil.

No Interarms markings but I believe they were the American importer...........hardly relevant to a firearm imported new into Australia.
