mossberg 500?

i have a chance to get a mossberg 500 wood stocks. sighted smooth bore slug barrel/slugster and a 28 inch modified barrel all for $239.99 NEW is this a good price ? also the barrels are ported.

That around here would be a great price. I have the Maverick 88 which is almost the same exact thing and has been a great shotgun. Take care of it and it will last a long long time.

thanks for the info. seemed like a good deal for what it is. ive had 500s before but not this type im wonderig if it is a different model because the wood is totaly different than im use to from mossberg and the action seems smoother than the others and the sights on the slug barrel seem to be top notch. i stated a price of $250.00 it is actually $239.99 sorry about the error and it also has ported barrels.

That is an awesome price. The wood will be either walnut (not so likely), birch in walnut color, or their new "dura wood" or whatever they call it. the 500 will vary gun by gun on smoothness but some 400 grit on a few key parts will smooth it further 2 barrels and under 250 is a steal for a new gun.

that number denotes barrel configuration... I am guessing it has nothing to do with the action...

I've had a 500 now for about 8 years.

It's my favorite firearm out of all the others.

i got the smooth bore ported with sights on it. should i have gotten the not ported rifled with sights version?
