Need a flu shot? Just turn in your firearm.
Worcester, MA is giving a free flu shot and a gift card to anyone who turns in a firearm. They require it to be "unloaded and wrapped in a bag" which violates MA concealed firearm law.

I can't believ anyone would be this dumb, not to mention that I've heard of people effectively taking guns that aren't there's for these buy back programs. The gov doesn't seem to mind receiving stolen guns.

I wonder if Worcester PD will be looking for unregistered guns... penalties in MA are severe for those.

These programs encourage theft, but they never mention that. And when was the last time you heard of a "Turn in your controlled substances" or "Turn in your counterfeit money program."?

Remember the point is getting guns off of the streets and not getting guns out of the hands of thugs. Anti-community doesn't care how they get them. A gun from you, a gun from a thug worried about contracting the flu, a gun stolen from you by a thug, they win no matter the outcome.
The amnesty is the best part. I wonder if heads are turned while they are melted down or only those used in crimes will be recognized to help close cases. I don't mean thefts either.

Let's not forget it being an easy way to get rid of a weapon used in a crime.

So what happens to firearms which were stolen from lawful owners and then turned in at one of these "events?" Are they melted down; or are they researched to see if they are stolen and an attempt made to return them to their rightful owners? Do they simply throw them into the smelter based on their zeal for the destruction of firearms or do they adhere to the law regarding the return of stolen property?

In response to post #5, the DEA does, in fact, run frequent "amnesty" programs for prescription drugs. In cooperation with local police who are, of course, entirely beholden to the federal DHS teat they're attached to.

Don't a lot of health departments do those for free? Not to mention insurance carriers?

If your only purpose for posting is to engage in conspiracy theory ramblings about how immunizations are government mind control scams or some such other blather...
Post it some place else.

I think a firearm is worth more than a flu shot.
I learned that there are 10,000 strains of the flu and CDC does a statistical analysis to identify the top three prevalent strains for the year. In short, they can be off by 9,997 strains. Opps. So there's no guarantee that the immunization received will protect the person during that particular year. Besides, a $20 flu shot doesn't compensate even for a $300 gun.
